Teen Titans Year One #4: Can these Titans do anything without Robin? Can they even have character development without him? I know he’s the heart and soul of the team, but he gets way too much panel time and long Hamlet-esque brooding scenes. C+
DC Universe #0: The prelude to Final Crisis is a bit overwrought with its language, but the plot points it covers make the main book seem to be worth reading once it arrives. My only question is “what was up with the stripper club?” C-
Power Pack Day One #1 - 2: I BIG HEART Power Pack when I was in high school. I like this redux, but I’m confused as to where this falls in Marvel chronology. They’ve obviously met Franklin Richards, who claims to have no usable powers of his own, but he already has his honorary Power Pack uniform. Ah well. It’s a cute read. A-
In other news, I saw Iron Man at the Drafthouse last night. Finally, a superhero movie that knows how to build up action and deliver an unrestrained, climatic battle royale! And be sure to stay after the credits for a bonus scene that will be (somwhat) paralleled in The Incredible Hulk later this summer!!
